MATCH PREVIEW - BORO FACE LEAGUE LEADERS

Bacup Borough face the league leaders FC St Helens at the Brian Boys Stadium on Saturday looking to continue in their rich vein of form after the impressive 2-1 win over Atherton Collieries in the Lancashire Challenge Trophy.

Brent Peters will have Lewis Byrne back in contention on Saturday after being out through suspension. But there's still no return for Toby Wright or Mason Fallon who are both recovering from injury.

A massive positive to see Lewis Byrne back in contention

The visitors have had an excellent start to the season and seem to be enjoying life at the top end of the North West Counties Division One North, with 13 wins, 4 draws and 3 defeats. A positive position for the team experiencing only their third season at this level.

Having seen several games between the two sides over the past few seaons I'm sure that the supporters are in for a thriller. Both teams like to get the ball down and play through the thirds. And hopefully with dry conditions expected this weekend the surface will be primed ready to go.

Speaking to the manager about the visit of the current leaders, he said; "The players are looking forward to it. We've had a good few weeks and the confidence of the players seems good. We know what FC St Helens have, and it's up to us to make sure we're up for the challenge. It's that time of the season when our levels of performance need to be at the top. Every single point matters. Concentration levels also need to be tight. Let's get amongst the pack at the top and see where it takes us."
