DATES SET FOR REARRANGED FIXTURES

It has been announced by the North West Counties League Fixtures Coordinator that Bacup Borough wil now play their rearranged fixtures on April 15th and 17th after this weekend's trip to Runcorn Town.

Borough face Runcorn Town in their final away fixture of the 2023/24 season

This means that Borough will face Atherton LR on Monday 15th, followed by Shelley FC on Wednesday the 17th. Weather permitting this will be Borough's final league fixture before they face Euxton Villa F.C. in the Edward Case Cup Final on May 6th at Ericstan Park.

Discussing the changes with the Borough manager Brent Peters, he said; "All being well these rearranged dates will wrap up our league campaign, but with the weather being horrendous over the past few weeks you never know."

Brent Peters & Nigel Langley eager to keep the players focus on league matters

You only need to look around the three leagues and beyond to see the problems for the other clubs. It's been a wash out for many this past few months. You think you are winning one minute with the early start to the season, and the next you've got a backlog of five and six games. All of a sudden you're chasing your tail."

We spoke briefly to the manager about the preparations for the final few league games, and he remains fully focused.

"Finishing the league season on a high is massively important for us. Not only is it about personal pride, but also about the importance of taking momentum into a cup final.

"It's only natural that the players will have one eye on May 6th, but it is my job to make sure that the focus is on the here and now. Some of these lads still need to warrant a shirt for the final. The ball is in their court."
