BOROUGH LAUNCH NEW COMMUNITY INITIATIVE

Thanks to our friends at Whitewell Bottom Community Centre, Bacup Borough FC are launching a number of community programmes to provide a host of health and sports opportunities for residents of all ages.

The move will see the relocation of the current school year 9 to 11 development centre from Hopwood Hall Sports Arena in Middleton from Saturday 25th July and the launch of more programmes for the community to enjoy.

On Friday 1st July, the club will open the doors to its new Football in the Community Scheme with the launch of Walking Football at Whitewell Bottom Community Centre from 11am - 12pm.

This is a great opportunity for those that want to be part of an inclusive community to get a bit of light exercise and make new friends in a game of walking football before a brew and chat after in the cafe. The sessions cost £3 a week

On the same day a new development centre will launch for school years 5 and 6 where aspiring footballers can benefit from expert coaching covering areas such as ball mastery, strength and conditioning and game related coaching.

The new Football in the Community Department will be lead by Bacup Borough FC Head of Recruitment, Chris Honor.

" I would like to thank Robyn and the trustees at Whitewell Bottom Community Centre who have been really supporting in our proposal which will also see us support the projects they currently have in place. One thing that has been missing in the valley is facilities that are accessible to community groups and thanks to Robyn and her team, we can now change that"

"Having been involved with Community departments at both Football and Rugby League clubs, I have seen the impact that bringing the community together has on their physical and mental health and it is something that I believe will reduce the need for residents of the Valley to commute further than they need so that they can be a part of something"

"From the point of view of the development centres, the plan moving forward is to provide the children local to Bacup the opportunity to represent their local team and provide a pathway to stadium football in the long term"

Bacup Borough Football in the Community will also be running their first Multi Sport Camp taster sessions in the half term holidays on Thursday 28th and Friday 29th July between 10am and 12pm costing £10 a day per child.
