Bacup Borough produced a quality team performance under the lights as they bounced back from Saturday’s FA Vase disappointment with an impressive 4-1 victory over Garstang.
There were strong individual performances throughout the Borough side, with Kaiden Barlow, Connor Morris and Jake Townsend particularly influential as Borough delivered a confident and purposeful display.
Garstang arrived at the Brian Boys Stadium full of confidence themselves, having secured a league victory over AFC Knowsley in their previous outing. They showed plenty of promise during the opening stages, with captain Weslie Bajraliu, Joseph and Liam Painter all looking lively.
However, it was Borough who started the brighter of the two sides.
Aiden Lancaster and James Bartholomew continued where they had left off against Selby Town on Saturday, providing excellent attacking options down both flanks. Jake Townsend and Kyle Siddle were also driving forward with pace and purpose.

Aiden Lancaster has performed excellently since his arrival
Manager Brent Peters had asked his wide players to get closer to Kaiden Barlow through the middle, and the tactical instruction was being executed perfectly.
Borough took the lead when Jake Townsend produced a delightful ball from the right-hand side, picking out Connor Morris inside the box. Morris connected perfectly with a superb volley, drilling the ball beyond Joe Lawton and into the bottom left-hand corner.
Just ten minutes later, Borough doubled their advantage.

Jake Townsend was on the top of his game against Garstang FC
Once again, Townsend was at the heart of the move, picking out Barlow’s run towards the near post. The Borough striker got the slightest of touches to flick the ball over Lawton and into the top of the net.
At 2-0, Borough were playing with real confidence and looked in complete control.
Garstang, though, pulled a goal back before the interval. A mis-weighted back pass was intercepted by Liam Painter, who got to the ball ahead of Harry Roper before calmly slotting into an empty net.
The visitors started the second half positively and began putting numerous balls into the Borough penalty area from wide positions. But Borough’s central defensive pairing of Joey Fallon and Paul Sholabi stood firm, producing countless important aerial clearances and ensuring Garstang struggled to turn their pressure into clear-cut opportunities.
At the other end, Lancaster and Bartholomew continued to push forward into the attacking third, while Townsend was running the show, dragging the Garstang defence from left to right and creating problems every time he got on the ball.
Borough restored their two-goal advantage following another excellent move down the right.
The ball was worked into the box and Josh Walne showed great composure under pressure before laying it into the path of Townsend.
The Borough number 11 quickly got the ball out of his feet and fired a low finish into the bottom right-hand corner.
A fantastic strike from a player enjoying an outstanding evening.
Both sides made substitutions as the game progressed, but Borough continued to look the more dangerous side.
The fourth goal arrived after more excellent combination play involving Charlie Cowin, Walne and Townsend, with Borough’s number 11 completing a wonderful individual performance and putting the result beyond any doubt.
It was a thoroughly deserved victory for Borough and exactly the response the team needed following the disappointment of the FA Vase defeat at Selby Town.
A strong all-round team performance, plenty of attacking intent and some excellent individual displays give Borough plenty of positives to take forward.
Now attention turns to the weekend, with AFC Knowsley visiting the Brian Boys Stadium as Borough look to build on an excellent night under the lights.
