This coming Saturday 5th July the Brian Boys Stadium will play host to Dawn's Day. An event which pays its respects and celebrates the life of local woman Dawn Walker and also raises valuable funds for the charity Mind UK.

This year will be five years since Dawn's passing and a charity football match has been organised by Dawn's brother, Gary, and will see a Brent Peters XI face a Rossendale FC select.

The first game was a resounding success with all proceeds going to Mind UK and the amazing work they do in supporting people with specific needs.

Across England and Wales the charity helps in making mental health something people can talk about every day. They speak out against unfair treatment in healthcare, at work, and in the law - and things that make life harder for people with mental health problems.

The charity also support minds by giving help when it’s needed - through their advice, information, and local services. And they connect minds by bringing people and communities together - people who care about mental health and want to make a difference.

Chatting to Brent Peters about the up and coming game, he said;

"It's a fantastic cause and a brilliant way of keeping the memory of Dawn alive. The first ever game was a big success with several thousand pounds being raised for Mind UK.

"It was touch and go whether we were going to be able to have the game at the Brian Boys Stadium in the first place. With all the redevelopment still taking place with the clubhouse we're not in any position to offer hospitality as we would like and quite a few of the squad are away on holiday, hence why it's a Brent Peters XI and not Bacup Borough FC. But after talking to Dawn's brother, Gary, he still wanted to have the game go ahead as people were coming to the game from all over the country. Touch wood that we get the weather and Dawn is smiling down on us"

The gates will open at 11.30 with the game kicking off at 2pm - £3 Donation

Refreshments and snacks will be available with portaloo's onsite. Please be reminded that they'll be no access to the clubhouse on the day.
