TIME TO SAY GOODBYE

Last week saw the departure of the old Farm Avenue terracing at the Brian Boys Stadium.

For decades the old terracing behind the goal at the far end of the ground has been a fond favourite of groundhoppers from the UK and overseas who have continued to photograph it for nostalgic reasons.

Over the years it has continued to fall into a worrying state, but with the work of Brent and club volunteers they've managed to keep it upright for those that wish to experience the history of the club.

Speaking to the club PA, Debra O'Connor, she said. "I have been at the club for almost 23 years and in that time there has been thousands of groundhoppers all wanting to take photographs of the Farm Avenue terracing. I'm not sure what the appeal is to them, but its definitely got a character of its own so may be it's that which captures their attention and gets tongues wagging on social media."

The Bacup Ultras had adopted the terrace over the past few seasons and talking to the manager he had this to say to the Ultras. "I know that the Ultras will be disappointed just like I am to see the old roof and terrace disappear. They were connected to that side of the ground, and every week they'd gather behind the goal to cheer on the lads. All I can say is that we do have plans for that part of the ground in the future. The club is moving forward, watch this space as we create something better for you."
