KYLE SIDDLE BACK IN ACTION

Updated: Oct 31, 2021

No game for Bacup Borough last weekend meant that the manager Brent Peters could concentrate on focusing his attention on borough’s next game which is away at Nelson on Saturday.

There was a lot of frustration after the defeat to Chadderton at home, but the week break has allowed the manager and Head Coach David Felgate to gather the players together to work on a few aspects of their game.

The defeat to Chadderton in front of their biggest crowd of the season was a clear illustration of how difficult the North West Counties League can be. And any off par performances or lapses of concentration from players will be punished.

The manager last week spoke about the increase in supporters coming back to West View and how the players need to deliver on the pitch in order for those supporters to continue coming through the turnstile.

“It’s important that the players remain focused and on top of their game every week. It’s been a positive start to the season so far with a few blips, but the increase of support both home and away is an opportunity for all of us to build something special this season.”

On Saturday they take the short trip down the M65 to face Nelson who are currently one place below borough in 8th, and with everything tight at the top of the league a win for borough could see them move into the top 6.

The break has also allowed those injured to have another week of recovery, meaning that Kyle Siddle will make a welcome return to the squad giving the manager additional options in the attacking third. Toby Wright and Lewis Byrne are doubtful for the trip to Little Wembley and Gareth Wager is still touch and go after suffering a recurring groin strain in the game against Ashton Town.
