HODGSON SIGNS CONTRACT

Oliver Hodgson put pen to paper last week on a contract that will see the young forward commit to Bacup Borough for the next few seasons.

Hodgson who featured in every single game during the 2024/25 campaign will certainly be an asset to Brent Peters as the manager looks to bolster the squad in time for the new season which kicks off on July 26th.

HODGSON IN ACTION AGAINST EUXTON VILLA FC

During the season Hodgson made the majority of his appearances coming off the bench to impacting the game. The game against Skelmersdale United at the Brian Boys Stadium and away at Euxton Villa were his stand out performances of the season. His ability to find space and remain composed under pressure allowed him to net nine times, making him one of Borough's leading goalscorers behind Toby Wright and level with Kyle Siddle.

Speaking to the manager Brent Peters about the recent signing of Oliver Hodgson on a contract, he said;

"I'm absolutely delighted that Ollie has signed. He was never not going to be offered a contract for this coming season. I'd spoken to my coaching staff on many occasions about the lads ability and we were all in agreement that it was important to keep him at the club. He is a special player that is only going to get better, and it's important for us that he gets better with us."

Brent also spoke about the lads attitude and maturity during a season in which he started the majority of the games on the bench.

"He has been fantastic. I could see at times that he was becoming frustrated about starting from the bench but he never once complained. His attitude and dedication was brilliant throughout. And every single time I asked him to deliver the goods he did with flying colours.

"He is one year older and wiser at this level and I'm hoping that he can now kick on and secure a starting shirt. He's more than capable of making it happen. The lad has talent in the bucket loads."

The squad are due to return back for pre-season training later on this month with several others expected to sign contracts in the next few weeks.
