CAPTAIN URGES PLAYERS TO FOCUS ON JERICHO LANE

Bacup Borough captain Michael Gervin has told all the players that the focus this season is the league, and that Thursday night's away game at St Helens Town is a distant memory.

The 6-1 defeat in the First Division Cup was disappointing but the captain wanted to move on quickly and focus the attention on Saturday's game away at South Liverpool in the league.

Talking to Michael about the game with St Helens Town and the league fixture with South Liverpool he said; "It's massively disappointing the way in which we lost the game tonight in the cup. That performance was not the Bacup Borough we know this season, and everybody is accountable and should take ownership for that below par performance.

Gervin Leading By Example

"Our focus now is well and truly on Saturday's game away at South Liverpool FC. They're a strong team with quality and we witnessed that in our home game a few months ago. They'll hurt us if we allow them to, every single player needs to be ready."

I spoke to the captain about the league campaign and how it's beginning to hot up, he said. "It's definitely starting to get interesting. There's quite a few teams battling it out for those positions and we'll need to work hard for every point if we're going to make those play-offs. We're good enough but consistancy is key. I must add that our supporters have also been key this season. We need them massively in order to push us forward in games. I'm sure they'll be there in numbers."

Kick off is 3pm at Jericho Lane. Admission: £5 Adults - £3 Concessions - Accompanied U16s Free.
