Brent Peters Calls for Respect as Club Issues Supporter Reminder

Bacup Borough manager Brent Peters has issued an important message to supporters ahead of the new season, stressing that poor behaviour at matches will not be tolerated and reminding everyone of the serious consequences disciplinary incidents can have for the football club.

The manager's comments follow the recent announcement from Droylsden FC, detailing the Football Association charges brought against the club following their play-off fixture against Maghull FC. The case serves as a timely reminder that the FA is taking a much tougher approach to misconduct involving players, officials and supporters.

Bacup Borough have experienced the consequences themselves. Following the final league fixture of last season against Squires Gate, the club received an FA charge after the actions of a small minority of supporters.

Peters Asks Supporters to Remain Respect Throughout the Season

While the vast majority of Borough fans represent the club with pride, Peters believes it is important that everyone understands the financial and sporting risks that such incidents bring.

Speaking ahead of the new campaign, the Borough manager said:

"I want to make it absolutely clear that bad behaviour at our matches will not be tolerated. We've all seen the recent situation involving Droylsden FC, and it's another reminder that the Football Association is clamping down on misconduct across the game.

"We were charged ourselves following the Squires Gate match at the end of last season because of the actions of a minority of supporters. That simply cannot happen again.

"As a community football club, we cannot afford the fines or punishments that come with these incidents. Every pound spent on disciplinary action is money that could be invested into the football club, our facilities and our team.

"We've already been warned, and it's now everyone's responsibility to ensure we move forward together. We want our supporters to create a positive atmosphere, get behind the players and represent Bacup Borough in the right way.

"We have fantastic supporters who are passionate about the club, and we want that passion to continue. But it must always be shown respectfully. Abuse, threatening behaviour or any actions that bring the club into disrepute will not be accepted."

Bacup Borough are urging all supporters to play their part throughout the 2026/27 season by supporting the team positively, respecting match officials, opposition players and supporters, and helping to create a welcoming environment for everyone attending the Brian Boys Stadium.

The club appreciates the continued backing of its loyal supporters and hopes that, by working together, everyone can ensure the focus remains where it belongs—on the football.
