This weekend Bacup Borough players return back for pre-season training looking to focus on what we all hope will be a successful 2025/26 season.

The majority of the squad are expected to return back for their first session with a few still away on holiday.

The manager has already made it clear from conversations on The Rewind Show that a part from goalkeeper Joshua Brooks, the rest of the squad from last season had been retained, either on a contract or non contract basis.

Work has also been going on behind the scenes to recruit further reinforcements in time for the start of the season which we believe will hopefully take place on Saturday 26th July. This date has already been announced for the North West Counties Premier division. Further details will be addressed at the leagues annual AGM which takes place Saturday 21st June in Blackpool.

Talking to the manager Brent Peters about the up and coming season and the prospect of bringing in new faces, he said;

"Pre-season is always an interesting and testing time for all the clubs operating at this level of game. The contract players will all be returning for training, but it's the non contract players that can cause you the most headache's due to the fact that until they've signed a counties registration form on the 1st July they're not officially your player.

"It's also a time to recruit and invite new blood to the sessions. The coaching staff and I have highlighted what we need going forward and hopefully we can bring in the right characters to take us in the right direction.

"Training will be intense with Nigel, Alan, Ryan and Jimmy all making sure that the players are fit and ready to go come the start of the season. Pre-season friendlies have been arranged and these games will give us the opportunity to work on different elements of our game".

The friendlies arranged are as follows.

Saturday 5th July | H | Brent Peters XI vs Rossendale FC | 2pm

Tuesday 8th July | A | vs New Mills FC | 8pm

Saturday 12th July | A | vs Route One Rovers | 3pm
